Don't Think (Branding and Design)

Prompt:

The Don't Think agency was started out of the need to separate my freelance and contract work from my personal branding and portfolio.

Simple, clean and non-traditional were my guiding pillars.

Thoughts:

The curiosity and meaning behind the name "Don't Think" pushed me to forgo the more traditional icon-style logo. I wanted name to be outwardly present on each page, so I opted for a simple word stack. The glitching "don't think" came along later as I wrestled with, and ultimately decided to lean into, the orwellian undertones of the phrase. This worked well for most applications, but the shortened "dt" logo became an alternate for instances where something a bit more compact was needed.

The slightly cryptic landing page and waterfall structure of the website were a function of my desire to make the browsing experience unique. I like to think that the journey is thoughtfully planned; a curious start begins to lead the reader down a path that helps them to better understand the purpose behind the brand. Ultimately, they will end up here - just off the projects page taking a look at how the sausage got made. By the end of this page, you'll understand the meaning behind the brand as much as anyone, including myself. Confusing? Maybe, but don't spend any time thinking about it.

Much of the websites content takes on a short block column structure reminiscent of old-school advertising copy. Why? Because I think in words - and if you're paying me you better know what you're paying for. What I deliver clients is rarely as copy-heavy, but staying true to myself, and therefore my brand, means putting it out there in text. Don't feel like reading it all? AI summaries are available upon request.

That's about it. Feel free to take a look around and stay as long as you'd like. Since you made it this far, I'll even give you a shortcut. If you like what you see, you can find ways to get in touch with me on the contact page.
